Vezra Dauphine
Advanced Clinical Intern
Pronouns: They/Them/Theirs & She/Her/Hers
Hi! My name is Vezra (They/She) and I am a counselor-in-training earning my M.A. in Mental Health Counseling and Wellness with an advanced certificate in LGBTQ Health, Education and Social Services at NYU.
I am a non-binary femme lesbian, neurodivergent second generation Haitian American immigrant who understands what it is like to move through a hostile, oppressive world. In my own therapeutic journey, I’ve found it challenging to make connections with counselors who were disinterested in the nuances of my identity. As a counselor, I hope to create a space where clients feel like they can be their authentic self and that no experience or identity is “too niche”.
My therapeutic approach is integrative and flexible as I pull from different styles of counseling depending on my client’s specific needs. I generally take an anti-oppressive, feminist, and psychodynamic lens to counseling. I believe that our material conditions and relationships directly inform our mental wellness and will invite these topics into our sessions. My areas of focus are queer identity exploration, sexuality, racial minority stress, trauma and neurodivergence.
I hope to accompany you on your therapeutic journey!
