Alejandro Estrada

Advanced Clinical Intern

Pronouns: He/Him/His & They/Them/Theirs

Hiya! My name is Alejandro (he/they), and I am a queer Mexican-American Indigenous clinical intern. I speak both English and Spanish. I was born and raised in New York and have lived in almost every borough, so I am a native New Yorker. As a first-generation child, I have grown up in a variety of environments and have experienced the beauty of this city, as well as its hardships. In this space, we will explore the beauty, chaos, and questions of life and of growth.

Therapy is meant to be a safe space to explore your thoughts, ideas, fears, and goals. You are the driver, and it is my job to be your co-pilot, ensuring the directions you want are followed and providing conversation, challenges, and curiosity. My approach to therapy is an integration of Choice Theory/Reality Therapy, Feminist therapy, and sprinkles of Existential therapy. Your life is in your hands, and it is important to create a life that brings in all the feelings and thoughts you allow. By discussing current issues and societal issues, we can build a foundation that aligns with your wants, needs, and aspirations.

I specialize in working with queer and/or trans folk and in intersectional work. I also work with those experiencing identity confusion, depression, anxiety, and a poor quality of life. Through a feminist and existential approach, it is important to address life and how you interpret it, as well as to detect the systemic struggles, privileges, and oppressions. We are ever-changing, creating new layers of ourselves, and my goal is to guide you in focusing on the layers you want to keep rather than the ones you are shedding.

Do not hesitate to reach out with any questions!
